Lasso to the heavens: Sydney and public art

I have always been an advocate for public art as It is such an important part of the soul of a city. All the cities we know and love to travel to are all exemplars and promoters of public art. 

Art is a declaration that we hold other values dear; subjective, affective values like beauty, symbolism, spatial meaning. Art says yes, it’s a cost – and we reckon it’s worth it. In many ways, that’s the point.

With all the infrastructure work I do, I always attempt to incorporate artist of some kind. In last weeks Sydney Morning Herald a previous work of mine was mentioned when discussing the new Town Hall scuplture, Cloud Arch.
